I love what they've done with these tree trunk coffee tables!  Rustic eco chic what I'd like to call this...  and would definitely find a little space for one of these in my dream weekend get away one day... hopefully someday soon people, hopefully someday soon!

LOVE WHO YOU ARE...

Some of my favorite art and illustrations by the very talented Anahata Katkin... And I just have a few words to say before I end my day, and head off to the land of nod...

'love who you are'  and what does it really mean?  I think self love, and self acceptance is one of the most difficult things for us as a human race to not only accept - but then to practise on a daily basis.  If more of us allowed ourselves to love the true, the real, the raw - not the person we want the outside world to see.... but the real you and the real me that's been buried underneath all the should haves and would haves and maybes and what ifs....

What if there were no what ifs - what if we realise that this is the one and only real life, we don't get a dress rehearsal, we don't get a second chance at life. Because we don't know when the curtains will be drawn and our lives will come to an end.  A couple of weeks ago I got a message from my mum.  My cousin's son was killed in a bike accident and died at the age of 23.  Sadly I never got to know him, we never even met - but one thing I know is that this young man, in the prime of his life - lived a very full life and he touched so many lives with his abundant energy and lust for life, his laughter and his honesty in being true to who he was.  I think its that honesty that has drawn so many people to him, and that had touched so many lives in his very short life.  My heart goes out each and every time I see his sister post a message or his girlfriend or his mother or any of his friends... a true gent, a true gem - he is no longer with us, he has passed through this life, to his eternal life... where I am sure he is shining down on all those who still love him and miss him each and every day.

I cannot imagine the sadness and the loss - but one thing this has made me think about a lot is - how we live our lives, do we embrace each opportunity we have to make someones life more pleasant and happy, do we try and share positivity and light wherever we go?  Do we reach out even when we feel like our energies are so low we are not even functioning on reserves anymore ....

I want to live a grateful life, and I want to share the abundance of wonder and beauty that I stumble upon in the here and now - there is so much sadness and disasters we are faced with on a daily basis, a new crises, or yet another natural disaster - and it's not about turning a blind eye - because I very much understand and appreciate the day and age we are living in.  But I think now more than ever we need to focus on sharing the good news, we need to be encouraging to each other, and we need to live everyday not in fear of death, but in hope and in the knowing that this life we have, and the life we have led - that we have lived it full to the brim - we have explored all that there was in our being, we have lived out our purpose - we have found our gift - and we have shared that gift gracefully and gratefully.

Let us not be ashamed of any part of our humanness but let us celebrate in life, in this one magical, special gift and let us speak our truths and live our truths and let us love who we are, and let us love each other truthfully and abundantly.... peace out, love and light to each and every one of you!

WHITE AND LIGHT INDUSTRIAL HOME IN ITALIAN COUNTRYSIDE

This is the beautiful home of Monica Rusconi who runs fashion label album di famiglia with her siblings. A former 70 square meter commercial property has been lovingly turned into a bright and light family home now comfortably sitting over 2 floors, and a total of 140 square meters.
What I like.... perfect concrete floors in either grey or white.... check
A bit of exposed brick wall here and there..... check
Whitewashed brick walls in other areas ..... check
Lightness and brightness ..... check
The kitchen, the living room, the bedroom, the bathroom, the outside courtyard terrace.... need I go on?  Needless to say the sofa and that concrete table top!

I'm always inspired by seeing beautiful and minimal yet homely homes like this one... and it stirs in me the desire to work harder delightfully, to work better gratefully and to every day focus my energies on being and staying positive - on being and staying kind - and on sharing the beauty of life and love all round....

OAK KNOLL RESIDENCE BY JORGENSEN DESIGN

This feels like the kind of space where time stands still.  Where days flow into nights and back into day again, without anyone checking which day it actually is.  Feels like the sky is big and vast and it feels like the kind of place that allows you to breathe easily, to stand tall and fill your shoes and fill your space....

Makes my heart long for this kind of place... a place to be and a place to just belong.

Not much going on that I need to point out - just beautiful minimal design, with the emphasis on living... I can almost hear the humming of the beetles in the trees.

I did notice something though - some wonderful cloud art.  I have been a little bit sky and cloud obsessed lately .... but now I'm feeling like I'm not such a big weirdo if these people have such art proudly decorating their walls.

'Description by Jørgensen Design

Set within the vineyards and close to the center of town, the site for the house is a large plot of land dotted with full grown trees and vineyards.

The project consists of two houses connected with glass. Each house is protected from a busy road with two ‘L’ Shaped walls – one is stone and one is cedar. A number of pieces behind these walls are arranged together around courtyards and terraces. In turn giving rise to a sequence of individual gardens, each with their own individual ambience – gardens set among other limitless gardens. A system of slender spaces act like paths connecting the gardens, courtyards, and interior spaces, each embracing and respecting the landscape.

The entrance garden is conceived as a porch-like atrium which leads to a solid redwood door crafted from the only tree removed from the site. This door opens to a small glass foyer which connects the two main walls of the house. To one side is an interior gateway through a cedar wall and to the other side is a portal through a thick stone wall. The gateway opens to a garden and guestrooms and the portal opens onto the family art collection and main house.

The main house opens to vineyards on the valley floor with 270 degree views of the surrounding Mayacamas Mountains, Mt. St. Helena, and Stags Leap beyond. Guestrooms are through the cedar gateway and open to the southern views of vineyards, Stone Mountain, Mt. Vedeer and the city nearby. Meanwhile the utility areas are hidden away in front with easy access while increasing the buffer between the house and busy road and the house.

Large eaves create both a place to enjoy the outdoors all year around and protection from the summer sun, while letting in the right amount of winter sun deep into the house. The envelope of the house enhances the control of the site while providing a sense of privacy and protection while juxtaposed with large openings to the surrounding landscape. The materialization of this project reflects its rural setting, while softening its urban attributes of shelter in front and massive openings behind those urban attributes and human nature.

ARMADILLO SUMMER HOUSE - SERGEY MAKNHO ARCHITECTURAL WORKSHOP

I think I may have posted these images before - but always worth a second share.  Such a welcoming and light natural space - with a beautiful indoor outdoor feel

The firewood balances up perfectly against that black back wall inline with the edge of the crisp white island.  A lot of balance in sharp edges and curved furniture or details - even when you glance up at the impressive lighting they choose.

A lot of likes and not a single thing I would change here... Would love to live in a space like this someday... dream dream dream.... but dreams more often than not do tend to come true!
So I'm going to keep on dreaming and I hope you'll never give up your dreams either

GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

I can relate to this on so many levels - and beautifully said isn't it?

I guess the message for me in this is just to keep moving, and keep believing and whichever direction you're moving in, will be the right direction.

When we are aligned with our purpose - and even in the process of awakening and becoming aligned there will be little signposts along the way.

So keep courage little one - you're on the right track... even if it may not quite feel like it right now, just keep moving and keep moving forward

And remember to keep believing in magic - its out there and surrounding us always - but we have to believe in it to be seeing it!  I will share more on this front soon, had some good news towards the end of last week, and once all the wheels are fully in motion I'll be sharing more....
