ETQ AMSTERDAM - WHEN FASHION AND CONCRETE BEAUTIFULLY COLIDE

This is ETQ Amsterdam - a fashion brand born in 2010 with its main focus on mens footwear at the time, but now offers a beautiful array of elegant and sophisticated mens and womenswear as well as accessories all hand crafted in a small factory in Portugal.

Their main focus was to allow the quality of the products to speak for itself instead of heavily accessorised branding - with these three elements at the forefront of their ethos - elegance, timelessness and quality.

And the results are truly spectacular in a very minimal kind of way.  

The use of concrete in a variety of different finishing techniques adds a somehow blank canvas for the beautifully crafted items to really stand out and speak up.

I love love love those concrete benches with the more textured elements and exposed aggregate combined with the smooth finish at the base - and the chalky white is just lush ..... excited by the craft and design - oh and the fashion obviously too!

CALMA UBUD - BEAUTIFUL NEW KID ON THE BLOCK

Sometimes we stumble upon a website or in my case a beautiful stay - and you just feel like you have arrived - and you are home

That's how I felt when I found Calma Ubud - and yes .... the feeling of calm, and peacefulness and tranquility all springs to mind.  A gentle structure nestled amongst the ricefields in a traditional Balinese village just outside Ubud - surrounded by nature - and magical sunsets at night

I love the lightness and the brightness and the vast open plan lounge and breakfast area that overlooks the soothing turquoise waters of the swimming pool - pool view, ricefield view - nature all around
What more can one want?

This a small luxury resort with only 10 beautifully designed individual guest rooms and suites - the emphasis here is definitely the simplicity of the design, the traditional Balinese craftsmanship enhanced by the contemporary tropical architecture - I'd like to call this rustic eco chic - however I do believe this is rather less rustic, and lots more luxury

Definitely one for the list .....

BOHEMIAN BOUTIQUE HOTEL - CASA COOK RHODES

I'm not going to try and write something about this place, as it's just too perfect to try and spoil with a few measly sentences - swooning over the hammocks and the pool and the plush cushions - love the tribal designs by the way - all the little details - all so well designed, even the menu's are on theme - and well aimed at a very specific market

I've not even included the rooms, that will need to follow in a separate post as I'd hate for anyone to overdose on all this beautiful 'bohemianness' ..... I can't stop staring at my screen - imagining what a holiday at this place would feel like

I imagine bliss times 100 for sure

SANARA HOLISTIC RETREAT, TULUM, MEXICO DESIGNED BY STUDIO ARQUITECTOS

Flicking through Pinterest while having my morning coffee - I clicked through to Yatzer to look at an interesting project for a Safari Lodge in South Africa .... but that post I'll be saving till later - cause today I'm sharing with you this beautiful Holistic Retreat called Hotel Sanara.  I seem to be drawn to Mexico more and more these days - guess before I know it, the bags will be packed but until that day  - these stunning images by Pablo García Figueroa will take us on a visual journey all the way to the white sandy beaches of Tulum

Daniella Hunter and Charlie Gay are the duo responsible for the inspiration and concept behind Hotel Sanara which was thoughtfully designed by Studio Arquitectos

Sea sun sand and exceptionally beautiful design, the use of local materials and a subtle neutral pallet - this is what dream destinations and holistic holiday retreats are made of

LIMASEN ELLIE BY STUDIO MAGNOLIA, BALI

I love everything about this home!  Its a traditional Limasen which have been tastefully redesigned for a Finnish family who now live in Bali

Alejandra Cisneros is the architect behind this wonderful project, light, airy and open - and if you; like me, like anything and everything from this corner of the world - you'd love her other projects too

I stumbled upon Alejandra's work by pure chance.  I was searching google, as one does - for Architects in Ubud - and this amazing 'architect designed airbnb in ubud' appeared in my results.  For the next hour or so I was practically glued to my laptop - planning my big escape and dreaming about living in a beautiful Joglo or Limasen in Ubud or Sidemen or anywhere in Bali or beyond.  Fortunate for us, Alejandra is sharing her beautiful work with the rest of us - and she has a couple of truly unique AirBnB's we can spend a magical few days in.  The only slight problem is .... which one to choose!

You would also love her other architectural projects which you are welcome to visit here at Studio Magnolia - and do set some time aside you will be inspired and ready to book that flight to Bali - that I can guarantee you!
