I've never been to Mexico or South America - yet my dream list of holiday spots are growing by the day ... Drift in San Jose, and now Casa Impala ..... feels like the America's are pulling me by the hair - with so many friends now living, or moving there.

Imagine doing your sun salutations on that terrace - or hanging in the hammock as the sun settles for the day with a freshly made chilled caipirinha in hand

CAVE SUITES, SANTORINI GREECE BY PATSIOS ARCHITECTURE

I have always been dreaming of a Greek holiday - island hopping, wondering the cobbled streets and alleys, and underneath flower covered verandas ... swim in crystal clear beaches.  And my oh my, staying in one of the plenty beautiful hotels that I often swoon over from the distance of my computer screen.   But alas that beautiful country with its numerous islands are always just out of my reach.  I also think, in my minds eye I have always envisioned that I'll be going on holiday to Greece with a boyfriend, or partner, a relatively significant other - but as he is still nowhere to be seen or found (not that I'm looking, but I am keeping my eye on the horizon... so to speak) I guess I will just have to make some plans to venture into the great Grecian unknown on my solo

I don't mind travelling on my own actually - sometimes its really nice to share a trip with a friend and make some new memories together, but I also find that travelling solo opens one up to a much greater and more enriching experience.

So back to Greece - and look what I stumbled upon - a beautiful renovation of the boutique hotel “1864 The Sea Captain’s House” at Oia village in the island of Santorini.  Soothing interiors in crisp white, and white plastered walls follow the curves and shapes of the caves interior.   I do like the little alcoves and the smooth rounded edges and then even here or there where you have a sharp edge or corner detail - it feels less dramatic.
One for the bucket list eh?  Wow, and suddenly sleep is upon me, and I must say goodnight before I doze off ...  yawn.... sleep good night... x

AREIAS DO SEIXO - SANTA CRUZ PORTUGAL

swoon.... oh just let me catch my breath again!  and .... swoon again!

A lot of design elements I totally adore here - and this little gem of an eco-chic luxury hotel and villa complex is only in Portugal, not miles and miles and miles away... and I've never been to Portugal - its on my list though...

And I quote..... Areias Do Seixo owes much of its charm and success to its owners, husband and wife team Marta Fonseca and Gonçalo Alves, who in 2010 decided to create a hotel reflecting their passion for the environment and design. Gonçalo, who comes from three generations of hoteliers, also holds a degree in Management together with Marta, who is on hand to greet each new visitor like a guest in their home. “They arrive as guests and leave as friends,” noted Gonçalo, who tapped architect Vasco Vieira and interior designers Rosario Gabriel and Isabel Schedel to bring their eco-chic resort to life, complete with geothermal energy, photovoltaic solar panels, and recycling.

“When we got the chance to do a project like this, in a location we consider to be precious, we knew we had to be extremely sensitive in the way we would intervene,” says Gonçalo, who built around ancient trees instead of uprooting them, which can be seen in one of the guest bathrooms where a stately olive tree stands at its center. Their commitment to recycling can be found in whimsical designs scattered throughout the hotel’s interiors. Bed frames and wardrobes ingeniously constructed with driftwood collected from nearby beaches, while old oil drums were transformed into chic bedside tables."

I can just feel a little exploration developing in the folds and inbetween the grey matter of my little brain - and who said it's not ok to dream?  And who said our dreams won't come true...

Keep dreaming beautiful guys and girls, its only Monday - and a rainy one it's been here in London, but keep those dreams alive - then the rainy days will pass without even a fleck of a reminder of the wet day it's been!

VILLA KUBU - SEMINYAK

Roundabout now in 3 weeks time I will be at Heathrow airport awaiting a boarding call for my flight to Denpasar in Bali.  And hasn't the time flown since I booked my trip just a little bit more than a month ago!  I've started getting a couple of bits and pieces together for my trip, and a bit shopping too!  I have a few lists on the go - just in excel and as I remember something I need to take - or read about a nice cafe or area to visit, I add it to my little list....  all coming together rather nicely.

Back to Bali -  And a good month it has been!  I won't quite be staying in such luxury, but Villa Kubu really caught my eye - a beautiful Villa complex with private pools and outdoor bathrooms - pure luxuriousness to the last of the finer details.  Check out there beautiful and easy to navigate website for more villa inspirations - and who knows, you might just fancy a little trip to Bali of your own!
