Spacious with lots of natural light, this Barwon Heads home, designed by Melbourne based studio Altereco Design - is inviting and stylishly furnished throughout. The open plan living area spreads out onto the outdoor terrace and pool area with ease. A neutral and natural palette - I love how the black elements on the facade has been drawn into the interior as well; the bathroom with its dark tiles adds drama and the use of wood adds a bit of warmth and calm.
I would love to get my hands on one of those black lampshades over the dining room table. I wonder if anyone knows where its from?
Oh and did I mention that perfectly polished concrete floor - j'adore!

Hi do you know much about how the owners got the polished concrete look? Did they paint it or varnish it? Did it feel hard to stand on?

ReplyDeleteHello Michelle, thanks for getting in touch. I don't know much about the detail of their specific polished concrete floors - but I used to work with a couple of Companies that specialise in this kind of thing. I am not sure where in the world you are based - but feel free to look at www.Cemcrete.co.za (one product is called Colour Hardner, which you dust onto your wet screed and then it gets floated into the surface - once its cured you are left with a beautiful mottled finish, and some hairline cracks) (cretecoat is another application that is troweled onto the substrate - its quite a thin application of around 2 - 3 mm if memory serves right. You can also google 'micro cement' or betoncire - Please feel free to email me if you need any more information or some help to find contractors in your town (misslinde (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteHope this helped for the time being, best wishes Lindé
