'FOLLOW ME'

Inspiring!

"Russian photographer Murad Osmann has been attracting quite a bit of attention this past week on the Internet for his images. No, it’s not his professional photos of people and places, but rather a clever project he has been putting together on his Instagram account.
It’s titled “Follow Me,” and features a unique perpective: each shot is from Osmann’s point of view, and shows the back of his girlfriend Nataly Zakharova’s body as she leads him by the hand through various locations around the world.

The locations include some of the world’s most famous and exotic places, ranging from Big Ben in London and Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Hong Kong to a waterfall in Bali.
The project started during a vacation to Barcelona in 2011. Zakharova became annoyed that Osmann was so occupied with his camera and started pulling him by the hand… but it didn’t stop Osmann from snagging a shot. That shot would spark a project that has now spanned over a year and many different locations.
Regarding the look of the images: Osmann snaps the photos with his iPhone or DSLR, adds various effects to them using Camera+, and then uploads them to Instagram.
He’s based in Moscow, but it’s his job that has taken Osmann around the world. He’s the executive producer of the film company Hype Productions. Although the images make it seem as though Osmann spends his life satisfying his wanderlust, he typically only reserves a few days from each trip to explore with his girlfriend."

SCANDINAVIAN INSPIRATION

Today I'm sharing a mixed pot of Scandinavian wintry images.

I think if I had to choose a favorite I will have to choose them all!

Whites and woods and greys creates that gentle winter feel of cosy days and nights sipping hot chocolate around a roaring fire.

I'd love to experience a true Scandinavian winter.... The plan is just so for 2015....

Have a lovely weekend everybody

MICRO HOUSE

Micro House is a compact dwelling concept and measures in at just 22 square meters.  The house is detachable and therefore suited for different locations and climatic areas.  It is easily disassembled and transported and can be located in different areas, in urban city areas, in the mountains or beach.

Designed by Gabrijela Tumbas to accommodate four people for a period of one month and organised on two levels with sleeping and working desk raised to an upper level, and the downstairs sofa converts into an additional double bed.  It’s a perfect place for young people who love to travel.

I love this whole concept and think the space has been utilised very cleverly.  However, we all have stuff and where do we put all this stuff .... for example your luggage and your clothes.   Even just going away for a weekend has at least a couple of bags (one for camera's chargers and laptops or tablets and the other for clothes and toiletries)

Small spaces are kindof my thing right now - off the grid living, water storage tanks, solar panels and may I even add.... living off the fruits of the earth.  Easier said than done is what I'm thinking and I have not even scratched the surface!

Back the Micro House - if this was my space I would perhaps consider utilising one of the walls and create hidden storage panels.  So least your clothes, and towels and extra bedding and bags and luggage can be neatly tucked away.  In my space I would also like to have more windows - I totally understand and appreciate the concept of this design and it looks really beautiful, but in my ideal world I would like big window panels that you can open up and let the fresh country air in.

I will add a fireplace and a hanging chair - and with that I've added at least a couple of extra square meters to this lovely and perfect Micro House.  I guess in essence even though I am always thinking of small space living, I know that one day it will be highly unlikely for me to function in such a small space for more than a weekend.

LEON BARNARD'S PERFECT HAVEN IN NAMIBIA

This is the way we were all meant to live....
In bright and light and beautiful homes, filled with sunshine and lots of vastness and space.
And yet a lot of us still live in rented accommodation, often cramped spaces, often no garden.
Some of us are very fortunate though to live in such beautiful homes already.  And others of us are not.

Yet - I do believe that someday we'll all have our 'happy ever after' in our 'happy ever after homes'
And until then - I guess the best we can do is to keep being inspiring, and keep being inspired - keep dreaming and keep following your dreams - never give up!  It takes hard work, and a lot of sweat and tears - but one day it will all be worth it.  And keep on sharing whats true to your heart.

Now back to this dream home located in Windhoek, Namibia's capital and home to architect Leon Barnard who also designed this perfect peaceful haven.

"I believe our home should be exposed, it is possible to open it completely. This reflects our position in relation to life. Open and transparent. What you see is what you get." Leon Barnard
'Integration between internal and external areas, minimalism and multi-use spaces guided this perfect getaway.
Realize the simplicity, the essential, the timeless. '

The use of natural materials and a neutral colour palette creates a sense of simplicity and calm.  Lush greenery can be seen and accessed from most rooms and spaces and this in turn creates a seamless integration between the outdoors and indoor areas.  With a minimalist approach to furnishings this is a truly elegant and understated home.
