FUN HOLIDAY TREE
This is my holiday countdown tree. When I was little and we were counting down to the holidays or something exciting happening my mom used to get us to draw a tree and cross off an apple each day as we're getting closer to the happy day.
I've just booked my holidays to Cape Town - big hurrah!! And my mom mentioned this idea to me again, so I thought it will be a nice way to countdown the days to my holiday. I will animate the tree and each day one apple will from the tree until there are non left. Which would be when my vacation will start!
Keep checking back if you'd like to see how this develops and turns out. And maybe something magical will happen on the last day!
I guess I'm still just a little girl at heart, who loves drawing pretty pictures all day long if she can

PRETTY PASTELS
For Dad:
![]() |
| Lindé Davies Designs |
My parents sometimes read my blog! Isn't that the most special thing ever?
Mom is coming up to 82 the end of January and my dad is in his late seventies. I speak to them every day and we never run out of things to say.
So today I asked my mom what dad thought of my latest blog posts..... he thought they were a bit dull - see dad likes bright bold colours, and he dresses very dashingly (with the help of my mom off course!) A very trendy pair they are and I love them immensely and am so grateful to have them as my parents.
Anyhow, so I promised I'll post something colourful for my dad. But it's not that easy - so I thought I would ease into it with these pretty pastels - and maybe towards the end of the week I'll manage something bright and bold!
When I made some polished cement samples in the summer for my portfolio, I sent my folks a bright turquoise one which my dad absolutely loved! When I asked him which colour I should do a table top in (in the same polished cement finish.... I couldn't decide between white, grey or slate) he enthusiastically recommended the bright turquoise I had sent them... bless!
The last image I made for them - I do hope they like it!
Love you mom and dad, thanks so much for stopping by and reading my blog
Means so very much to me, miss you loads, but see in a few weeks time!

2014 - 365 days of New Year
Its the start of a New Year, and a new chapter. Or even a new book!
But each day is really a fresh new start and a fresh new chapter - a whole 24 hours in your credit which you can spend as you wish. Time is precious, and time is the only commodity we cannot get back once its been spent. Its the memories of how you spend your time that will last for a lifetime! Lets always be aware to spend our time wisely and pleasantly.
Take time and call your parents - they are old and won't be around forever. Make the most of your time with them while they are around. They are precious and they are irreplaceable. And even though our lives gets so busy with our own day to day chores and runnings arounds - sometimes the only highlight in their day is to hear from us. Let's not take that away from them.
Take time and call the youngsters - so they can realise and appreciate the importance of staying connected in real life, to hear someones voice - you can tell a lot by someone's voice; often hidden behind the letters of a keyboard. But a real voice cannot hide happiness, or sadness or excitedness.
Take time and call your friends - they are always there for us, to spend happy times with and sad times, to go shopping and do enjoy chats over coffees or meanderings. But sometimes a call just to say hello can mean so much more to that person - for you it may be just a call to say hello; but for them it can make their day!
And then enjoy all the little things that come our way. How the barrista at your favourite cafe makes your coffee just how you like it - take a moment be grateful for that small delight, and then lets try multiply that and make someone else's day special in any small way we can. And somehow in the bigger scheme of things the universe will smile down on us all.
Here's to a bright new year, a bright new wonderful year for us all! xx

CHRISTMAS TIME
Sharing some of my favourite Christmas images of the season. And yes I must admit, black can be very festive too!
Hope you've all got your Xmas shopping done, I still have a few more little bits and pieces to get, and I'm hoping to do so before the weekend. The menu's planned ... so to speak, and the spirits are high. Looking forward to a happy festive time with family and friends!
Wishing you all an early happy festive season too, celebrating and enjoying time with loved ones but also making time for reflecting and remembering just why we are celebrating. Lets not forget
