BEETROOT, GREEN BEAN AND GOAT'S CHEESE SALAD

This is a delicious summer time recipe - I made it a few weeks ago, on a bright and *warm* sunny Sunday afternoon and it went down a treat!  I served it with roast chicken and jeweled couscous.  Will also be a great salad to have with a BBQ.  I love the colours and interesting combination of ingredients and textures.  I am a big fan of goats cheese and it's always in my fridge.

I added a t-spoon of honey to my dressing.

This should print easily onto a 5x7 card.

5TH STREET - THE BROOKLYN HOME COMPANY

 

I have seen the first image on the net a lot, but could never find a link back to it's origination.  And finally .... now I have.

This is or was the home of Fitzhugh Karol, a woodworker and sculptor, and Lyndsay Caleo, a jewelry designer and goldsmith.  I love all they have done with the space - a very talented couple indeed.  From the little sleeping nook, up the ladder to the bright and airy lounge with solid tree trunk coffee tables.  I have only added my favorite fee images, but there's plenty more to this property to drool over.

APARTMENT BERGEN INTERIOR DESIGN BY PIET-JAN VAN DEN KOMMER

 

Today I am very excited to share these images of apartment Bergen in the Netherlands - beautifully photographed by Jolanda Kruse.  Interior design by Piet-Jan van den Kommer .... and I was a little bit surprised that I have not come across the work of this very talented designer up till now. 

"The philosophy of Piet Jan van den Kommer says it all: "Pure honest materials that get more beautiful by being used and besides that they always consist and display a certain rough authenticity"

Piet-Jan started making furniture for family and friends at the very young age of 14, in a shed in the back garden of the family home. Fifteen years later, Piet-Jan had developed into a designer of note and now operates from a 15,000 m2 space consisting of his office, a showroom and workshop - hosting a wide variety of lifestyle products mainly using natural materials such as wood, zinc, stell, stone and concrete and leather.

Piet-Jan will always look for and find the best and most suited combination of natural materials.

My favorite furniture piece is definitely the wooden blocked coffee table, very original, very rustic and very natural.  I also love what he has done with the polished concrete shower inclosure (image 4) - and did I mention that soon we will be offering this very same beautiful finish - so please keep watching this space

A perfect holiday home - this space really has it all!  Exposed painted beams, an indoor hanging chair - open space...

MASS LIGHT - NORM COPENHAGEN

This is the beautiful marble pendant 'mass light' designed by my favorite Architect Duo from Copenhagen - Norm Architects designed for &tradition.

I quote from Contemporist

"When traveling cities such as Paris, Barcelona and New York, architects Kasper Rønn and Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen were fascinated by the streets lamps; the characteristic cast iron top – looking a bit like a hat – with a semi transparent glass sphere at the base.

Back in the studio norm.architects detached the street lamp from its original use and transferred the shape and combination of materials in order to design an indoor pendant – the MASS LIGHT. The pendant is made of brown marble and glass, as the two architects were keen on creating a lamp made from natural stone with its warm sensual hues. The unusual use of such a massive piece of marble for a lamp gives an exceptional sense of quality and durability.

 I took this photo yesterday on my way home from work.  Springtime holds such promise, the air feels different, almost bursting with the excitement of the new season which arrives with the sight of bright blossoms in bright sunshine against a bright blue sky!

And how nice to get home and still have a few hours of light to enjoy!

Happy Springtime to you all, enjoy every day - do what you can - don't rush, take it easy - savor the moment - stop and breath it in ..... and remember

SOUTH OF FRANCE LIVING INSPIRATION

What a beautiful and dreamy home - rustic in all its old worldly charm.  Quite picture perfect - nothing more nothing less, would love to spend some quality time somewhere like this.

I think perhaps a visit to my wonderful friends, Fabrice and Aurelie, also in the South of France close to the Mountaigne Noir will be in order.  Maybe sometime soon!  Their family own a gorgeous guesthouse called Le Clos des Souquets - in a small village called Fabrezan, I have been fortunate to spend many a summer holiday there.

WOOD BLOCK LIGHT

What a beautiful and simple design.  I have no further info I'm afraid, but will see if I can gather the designer name at least and will add that to the post if, and when I do.

I like the simplicity of it, and the slight platform the block sits on.

KOSTA LANTA ECO RESORT - KRABI

And yet again I am inspired!   
Have added Kosta Lanta Eco Resort to my 'must visit' list, and hope to head back to Thailand's picturesque islands again soon!

 

Lots of ideas here for my week-end getaway, and I have done lots of drawings this week-end- will post some in the coming days.  I love the raised concrete platform, which is the sleeping area, the wooden panels that concertina open onto a shaded terrace.  The polished concrete and plaster bathrooms are just perfect!

I hope I'm not too optimistic to want to be spending my December holidays in my "Darling Week-end Get-away"
